As Amir and Ishmael become increasingly desperate and allow their hunger to grow, they continue to commit evil actions and eventually lose their ability to suppress their inner desires. As Amir’s craving for Baba’s love quickly overcomes his conscience, he decides to abandon his friend being raped, claiming â€Å"[he] ran because [he is] a coward† (Hosseini 82).
